       Abstract

When the Ottoman Empire was defeated in the First World War, it had to accept harsh conditions
by signing the Armistice of Mudros. While the Istanbul Government preferred to remain silent about
the invasions, Mustafa Kemal Pasha, who was sent to Samsun as the 3rd Army Inspector, left his duty
here and started the process leading to the Sivas Congress with his staff. In line with the decisions tak-
en at the congress, all resistance organizations were gathered under one roof under the command of the
Representative Committee formed at the Erzurum Congress, and Mustafa Kemal Pasha and his staff
received great support from all parts of the society. In this context, the support given to the National
Struggle by dervish lodges is undeniable. In this difficult process, Hacı Bektaş Veli Lodge and the
people of Kırşehir also fulfilled their duties and took part in the National Struggle. In this regard, Hacı
Bektaş Çelebi Cemaleddin Efendi and Hacı Bektaş Postnishîni Salih Niyazi Dedebaba played an im-
portant role in providing the support of the Alevi-Bektashi communities. Both of them welcomed Mus-
tafa Kemal Pasha and his delegation in the convent with respect and love and declared that they would
take their place in the ranks of the National Struggle no matter what. Because Veliyeeddin (Veled)
Çelebi had previously taken his place in the front in the National Struggle by establishing the "Muja-
hidin-i Mevleviye Battalion" with a group consisting of the Alevi-Bektashi population. As a matter of
fact, the Çelebi family has full belief that Mustafa Kemal Pasha will triumph, and in a conversation
between Cemalettin Çelebi and Mustafa Kemal Paşha at the end of 1919, even the proclamation of the
Republic was discussed. In the later process, as a result of the support given by the convent, Mustafa
Kemal Pasha elected Çelebi Cemaleddin Efendi as a deputy to the first parliament. However, Çelebi
Cemaleddin Efendi died in 1922, before he could see the Republic, after serving in the parliament for
only two years. In this study, the support of the Hacı Bektaş Veli Lodge to the National Struggle, the
approach of the Kırşehir Alevi and Bektaşi people to the National Struggle and the Mustafa Kemal
Pasha front, Mustafa Kemal Pasha's visit to the Hacı Bektaş Veli Lodge, Kırşehir 's sending delegates
to the Sivas Congress and the process leading to the 1919 elections are discussed. In particular, the
military picture shaped by the Hacı Bektaş Veli Lodge and the situation of politics in Kırşehir were
evaluated according to the archive records.
